What type of Garage Doors can you supply?
We can supply and install most types of garage door including the simple 'Up and Over', Sectional and Roller doors. Many styles are available in both Metal and Wood. Why not give us a call to discuss your requirements.

How much space do I need for a garage door to operate?
This depends on the type of door. The 'Up and over' style operate from the mounting frame and are therefore flush when closed. Sectional doors operate by running along runners which are either fixed to the garage wall or ceiling and go as far back as the door is tall. Rollers doors collect on a roll above the garage door opening. We will be happy to advise you on the most appropriate door for the opening you have so why not get in touch.

Can the door be painted?
Most metal doors come in a primer finish which is suitable for painting although most people leave them as they are. Wooden doors can be painted or treated as required.

Can I automate my garage door?
Most types of door can be automated and we will be happy to advise you. Most door operators require a mains electricity socket to connect to.

How do I operate my automatic garage door?
Automatic garage doors can usually be operated by a number of methods such as remote controls or key switches. Call us for more information.

Can my Electric gate remote control operate my garage door also?
In Most instances the answer is Yes!

What happens in the event of a power cut?
All our doors come with either manual handles or release devices so that the door can be operated manually.

How long does it take to get my door fitted?
If you choose to place an order with us we will advise you on the likely lead time for delivery, but lead times vary from the basic doors taking about 2 weeks from order to fitting, up to 5 or 6 weeks for doors that have to be manufactured or specially imported. Please call us to discuss.

How do I maintain my garage door?
Most garage doors will give many years of trouble free operations with just a few simple steps

For up and over and sectional garage doors, 6 monthly application of WD-40 to the tracks, wheels, and springs will keep things moving nicely – Don’t use grease!
For roller doors, lubricate the tracks that the door panels run in with a simple spray of furniture polish every 6 months.

Electric Gates

How much power do Electric gates use?
Not as much as most people think! Most electric gates use no more power than an electric light bulb.

How do I operate my electric gates?
Your gates can be operated by a number of methods including keypads on the gate post, an intercom or button within your property, remote controls, light beam sensors, induction loops in the driveway, timers and even by mobile phone! We will be happy to discuss your requirements.

Can I use one remote control to operate multiple gates and or my garage door?
In a word - Yes! In most cases we can provide remote controls and automation to enable multiple gates and garage doors to work from one remote control.

What happens if there is a power cut?
On most gate automation a key is provided which allows the gates to be released from the automation mechanism and thus enabling them to be operated by hand. Once power is restored the gates can be easily reconnected to the automation mechanism.

How do I use the gates as a pedestrian?
Pedestrian access can be granted in many ways. The most popular is for a keypad or key to be located near the gates. When the key is inserted or the code entered one gate will partially open to allow access.

Will my gates close behind me?
The behaviour of your gates can be set to meet your requirements. As a result, we can set your gates to close after a set period of time or only when you operate them. If your gates are set to close automatically we can provide an override switch that will allow you to leave your gates open if required.

How do I stop my gates closing on my car or children?
This is a concern many people have. We have a range of methods that ensure that the gates do not close if the entrance is blocked. These include induction loops and safety beams.

Automation

What equipment do you use?
We only use the best brand name equipment for the task including Came and BFT.

Does the equipment require servicing?
Like any electronic equipment that includes moving parts, especially outdoors, servicing is recommended. We will be more than happy to discuss this with you.

What happens if the automation fails and I can't get in?
Both garage doors and electric gates come with the ability to be manually operated ensuring that the gates or doors can be open and closed in the unlikely event of a problem.

Do cables need to be put under my drive?
This depends on your gate requirements but cables are often required. We can discuss the routing of cables with you. If you are having your driveway relaid speak to us first so that we can get the cables in place beforehand.

Does the automation lock my gates shut ?
Depending on which type of automation is used the gates will either automatically lock shut or be held in place by very strong underground motors.
